Danes Cottage was so good, I stayed here twice while awaiting a more permanent residence in Lincoln. Warm, cosy, a large bathroom with bathtub and a most comfortable bed. The kitchen has and all the items anyone needs and there are some great Dvd's of Lincoln histories - there are also beautiful views. It's close to the Cathedral Quarter and everything in town as well and i'll be recommending this place to relatives and visitors from abroad who want their own space and amenities. Thanks for everything, Anitia!

We stayed here for a long weekend and had a lovely stay. The cottage is warm, comfy and the ideal place for a break away. Great location and very quiet to say it's in the middle of Lincoln. The garden is a lovely little haven and nice to sit in and enjoy the views. The cottage is very well stocked with everything you could wish for and the owners are very friendly. Would recommend to anyone.

Stayed here for a long weekend and it was great. There was everything you could possibly think of in the place, milk in the fridge, tea, coffee, sugar and even a bottle of juice for the kids! Place was spotless and very well equipped. Cupboard full of board games, dvds, play station and games and every utensil u could ever need in the kitchen. And silly things like a clean sponge and kitchen roll were greatly appreciated since everywhere we've stayed before we end up having to go and buy them. The cottage itself is in a brilliant location. 2 mins from the town centre& cathedral. Anitia was lovely and let us check in early and check out late as there were noone in after us. All in all we really enjoyed our stay. 😊

What a lovely cottage! We had a wonderful few days in Lincoln staying at Danes Cottage! It's in a perfect location - a short walk downhill to the main shopping high street and a short walk up hill to the Bailgate. The little touches, such as milk in the fridge and biscuits on the side, were really appreciated. Would definitely recommend and hope to book another stay in the future. Thanks Anitia and George.

A lovely cosy spotlessly clean cottage with comfort beds and everything we needed for a relaxing weekend. Positioned on Well Lane / Danesgate which were the horses' way of avoiding the steepest part of Steep Street, the old historic city is short walk away uphill and the modern shops downhill. Thank you! We will be back!

We came over for the Super rally event and enjoyed our stay in this beautiful cottage throughly! Anitia made me feel very welcome already in my booking emails and meeting her face to face was so nice. So thanks again, Anitia :-) Cottage is very well equipped, kitchen has everything you'd desire; even coffee, tea and milk were ready for us. Weather was lovely and Lincoln city is well worth visiting!

Delightful cottage - spotlessly clean, well equipped and in a wonderful location. Also, milk and biscuits provided - a nice touch. Our short visit to Lincoln (to attend a wedding) was enhanced by staying here. We hope to return for a longer break. Thank you.

A well appointed comfy cottage and charming garden, we spent 3 nights here and could definitely have stayed longer. Lincoln is a great place and we hope to return soon, we fell 'in love' with the Cathedral and our legs had a good 'work out' walking up and down Steep Hill. Thank you for the milk and biscuits and all the little touches that made this a lovely break.

Danes Cottage is a lovely cottage in a great location. It was very clean and comfortable and warm this cold Easter time and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We certainly hope to stay at Danes Cottage again. We have over the years rented many many cottages and Danes Cottages is one of the excellent ones. Just a pity the weather wasn’t warmer so we could sit in the garden. Thank you Anitia and we hope to rent the cottage again. Ann

We had a lovely stay at Danes cottage over a long weekend. What a lovely spot. We certainly got a workout wandering up and down the hills with our baby daughter in her buggy (Norfolk seems very flat by comparison!) We'd certainly recommend your cottage to friends/family thinking of visiting the city.

My wife and I stayed 4 nights in Danes Cottage, Lincoln after finding this self contained cottage, on the internet, and judging from the information provided that it would be suitable for our short stay in Lincoln. Our booking was promptly processed, using PayPal our preferred method of payment. Earlier in our trip to UK we had previously stayed in many hotels and guest houses. Our stay in Danes Cottage topped all the other places, in comfort, proximity to historic places of significance, and the amazing details paid to every requirement of travelling guests. We could happily have stayed there for weeks rather than days. We would recommend this place to any visitors without reservation. PS: as an example of the kindness and concern of the owners, we left some articles of clothing behind and we were contacted by phone and advised that the clothes would be forwarded to another address in England that we were asked to provide. Our offer of payment for the postage was politely refused. All we can do is draw attention to this kindness.

We stayed three unforgettable weeks in the house. Excellent location in the town centre, and near the cathedral. Charming house with a tasteful touch. We could find in the house everthing to have a great stay in the city, board games, films, books about tourism in Lincoln and surrondings. Comfortable beds, sofas and lovely kitchen with all you need to cook. The garden is very nice and through the windows you have wonderful views. All the things to feel as if you were at home. Thank you to Anitia for doing everything so easy.

I enjoyed a few very sunny days in my home city at the end of March 2012. Danes Cottage is an excellent place to stay if you're exploring historic parts of Lincoln. It is surprisingly well equipped, and very peaceful. After a long journey, I was pleased to find all I needed to make a pot of tea (with biscuits!) in the kitchen before going out for a walk. Steep Hill is this year's best street in the UK. Tourists are often daunted by the prospect of walking up it - maybe it's easier to stay halfway up? http://www.thisislincolnshire.co.uk/Lincoln-s-Steep-Hill-crowned-greatest-street/story-13821165-detail/story.html (article from Lincs Echo, 11.11.11)

We stayed here for New Year, the cottage was not only in a fantastic location but it was homely and welcoming and it was evident that the owners worked very hard to make it a real home from home, everything that you could have possibly needed was available. We wouldn't just recommend this to others, we will be returning for a visit in the near future. Thank you so much!

My friend Doris and I stayed at the cottage in October. As I am now reviewing my week and pictures from Lincoln I just had to write to let you know how much we enjoyed our stay. The location was perfect. We enjoyed beautiful sunrises and sunsets from the back garden. The cottage was well-equipped, clean and comfortable. I plan to return. Thank you for making our visit such a memorable one.

We have just spent a wonderful Christmas at Danes Cottage. The cottage was in the perfect location for visiting the beautiful Lincoln Cathedral, Castle, shops (a vast range), restaurants, pubs and cinema. Danes Cottage itself, was very comfortable and cosy - providing all of the necessary home comforts! The playstation, range of dvds, board games and books were all a very nice touch - especially on a rainy day! We found Danes Cottage an excellent place to stay for a city break, and would recommend it to others.

We stayed at Dane's Cottage for 3 nights when visiting our niece who's a student in Lincoln, and we all had an excellent weekend. She even stayed over in the small room one night - not something you can do in a hotel! As has already been said, the location is perfect - close to the old town at the top of the hill and the newer shops and waterfront down the hill. The cottage itself is very clean and extremely well equipped. It has everything you are likely to need for a stay away from home - much better than most self catering places we've stayed. We were fortunate enough to meet the very friendly Anitia when leaving and she explained that she regularly adds things that she would use if she was living there. It really is like a home from home. It was pretty cold outside when we were there but the heating works really well and although we don't watch much tv, we did find ourselves staying in for a while one afternoon watching a bit of tv (which is a decent size with built in freeview) and playing a few games (on the Playstation 2) - it was just so comfortable in the lounge! We'll definitely be back next time we're in town and would have no hesitation in thoroughly recommending Dane's Cottage to anyone looking to stay in Lincoln.

Just returned from Danes Cottage after a couple of days in Lincoln. As previous guests have stated the location is just the best and the standard of the cottage equipment is very good. The cottage is located right in the heart of the old district just 5 minutes walk from the Castle. This part of Lincoln is the "tourist" bit and was just what we were looking for. There are so many restaurants, cafes, pubs etc right on your doorstep. The main shops are just 5-10 minutes walk. If we ever return for another city break to Lincoln I would return to Danes Cottage. The cottage is very clean and some nice touches with the tea and coffee etc. If Carlsberg did a cottage in Lincoln..........! Thanks The Jones family from Wolverhampton.

Just returned from a week long break at Danes Cottage and cannot rate the accommodation highly enough. What a GREAT little oasis in the centre of historic Lincoln. The highlights for me were the lovely, quiet garden (perfect for an end of day glass of wine) and the overall convenience of its location. Pubs and restaurants are all on your doorstep as are a couple of little supermarkets. If thinking of visiting Lincoln you can do no better than staying here. Much better than a hotel. Will definitely stay here again when next visiting this beautiful city!

The location of this cottage is great. It is of a very high standard and extremely well kept with a nice garden. Though it is the milk in the fridge and packet of biscuits on arrival that make you feel at home.

Location, location, location does indeed stand for a lot! And the location of Danes Cottage is fantastic. However even better was the hospitality and friendliness of our hosts. Anitia and George took great care of us. We got quite lost trying to find the cottage (put cobble, NARROW, winding streets together with two Americans driving a stick shift on the opposite side of the street and you get the picture...). George to the rescue! Anitia showed up a day or two after we checked in just to see if we needed anything. They could have not been nicer. We would recommend you follow the exact directions when finding the cottage the first time. Our mistake was trying to find the cottage from an alternative route or highway than those listed on the website. We really enjoyed the little back yard-sitting on the patio was a great way to start the day with a cup of coffee (kindly provided) or a nice glass of wine at the end of a busy day. We highly recommend Dane's Cottage and hope to return someday. Michelle Bev Sitka, Alaska

Hi there, I am an artist and was staying at the cottage for a week while installing in the Usher and Collection. I got to sample quaint Lincoln while working, being able to return to a cosy little cottage close to some lovely little pubs and shops was great. Thank you Anitia for providing a smashing little place and I definitely would come back for a jolly holiday with friends and family. 10/10

A very nice cottage in Lincoln. The location is perfect. Left hand (100 meters) the cathedral, right hand (150 meters) the main shopping street. The cottage is verý quiet, well equiped and clean. There is also a lovely small garden. Exept for loading you have to park your car on a car park (200 meters, 5-7 pound a day). If we visit Lincoln again, we will stay in this cottage.

I stayed with my mother to visit family in Lincoln. The cottage was very centrally located, yet so quiet out in the back garden. A real oasis in the city. My brother, his wife and girls enjoyed the garden as we were able to host dinner - everything you needed was there - so intuitive! Can't do that in a hotel! My nieces were enthralled by the ladybirds in the garden who also made guest appearances inside - very charming, hope its a sign of a good summer? Will definitely come again. Loved every minute x

Stayed 6 nights for our Daughters graduation week and found the cottage v comfortable and in an ideal position for both the cathedral and downtown areas with some good bars and restaurants nearby. For long term parking Broadgate is not too far and is £4.50 weekdays or £2 weekends for 24hrs - only problem is that it expires at 8am but the walk clears the cobwebs and the Spar is there for brekkie items and a paper.

We stayed for the weekend while I was doing an event at the Lincoln Book Festival and we had a wonderful time. The cottage is one of the best-equipped we've stayed in, cosy and comfortable - the owners have thought of absolutely everything. The location is perfect, right in the middle of the historic quarter (though just far enough away that you don't get woken by the cathedral bells!) and is basically a 5 to 10-minute walk from everywhere (including the modern shopping area and the cinema). Highly recommended. We'll definitely be staying here again, next time we visit Lincoln.
